The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommends Tyre Pressure Monitoring
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommends Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) to ensure a driver's tyres are correctly inflated and as a consequence increase the safety and performance of vehicles.
There has been research conducted in the USA about the benefits that could be gained by implementing TPMS on all vehicles, resulting in a safety standard requiring TPMS to be fitted to all vehicles by November 2006. It may not be essential in the UK but with more emphasis on Corporate Manslaughter, companies should make this small investment to provide back-up in the event of an accident.
An under inflated tyre is difficult to spot without a device that can do it for you! We have two products that can do it for you, follow these links for more information. PressurePro and Air Alert
The consequences of under inflated tyres can lead to
- Increased wear of the tyres treads which will lead to a higher chance of aquaplaning in the wet.
- Reduced handling characteristics and a reduced control of the vehicle.
- Longer stopping distances.
- Higher chance of the tyre delaminating, which could lead to a sudden tyre failure.
