Checking tyre pressure is crucial for vehicles to run economically and safely and help preserve a tyre’s life. If tyres are over inflated they have to work harder to deal with greater resistance, whereas under inflated tyres can be dangerous.<\/p>\n
Already this year there are a number of cases of people being prosecuted for driving without due care and attention because of defective tyres. One woman was sentenced to 7 years after killing a 15 month old child and another 77 year old woman in Bolton was sentenced\u00a0following a fatal incident,\u00a0in both cases each vehicle\u00a0recorded low tyre pressures.<\/p>\n
For commercial vehicles the AirAlert could be the difference between a blow out or not, especially on inner axle tyres<\/p>\n
Tyresafe, the non-commercial organisation responsible for raising awareness of the importance of the dangers of defective and worn tyres, recommends checking tyre pressures on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n
