In the latest VOSA Commercial Vehicle MOT Inspection Manual, the HEV’s are specified that can be tested only by a decelerometer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The manual states, “attention must be paid to Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Due to the nature of the control systems some vehicles cannot be tested on the Roller Brake Tester<\/a> and must receive a decelerometer brake test<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Some vehicles have a regenerative braking system connected to the service brake system. If the regenerative system cannot be disconnected from the service brake, a decelerometer brake test is required. If the regenerative system can be disconnected and the vehicle control system allows a roller brake test this must be carried out.
\nIf you are in any doubt whether a vehicle can be roller brake tested and if the presenter does not know, contact T.S.S. Swansea.<\/p>\n

Brake testing HEVs, with a regenerative brake system must be appropriately charged (appropriately in this context means the red warning light showing there is a defect is not illuminated).<\/p>\n

Vehicles that require decelerometer testing are:
\nMercedes Axor Bluetec Hybrid.
\nOptare Solo+.”<\/p>\n

Workshops and operators must also note this for 6 weekly inspection brake testing, decelerometers are the number one tester to add a brake test to an inspection sheet.<\/p>\n
