Decelerometer ‘s have moved on significantly from the old mechanical brake testers such as Tapley Brake Meters. Being electronic there is a much higher accuracy and additional information such as average deceleration, a left/right pull measurement, speed at braking and stopping distance. All tests are time and date stamped.

Brian Barr said “I truly believe the BrakeCheck brake tester is an excellent product for brake testing commercial vehicles, for a few hundred pounds investment the BrakeCheck is available to carry out inspection brake tests and spot checks as and when we need it. I would recommend a BrakeCheck to any vehicle garage!”

Since the DVSA vehicle maintenance guidance was updated in April this year, many companies have shown an interest in using a decelerometer like BrakeCheck to carry out the three additional tests.
Commercial repairers and in house workshops can complete regular inspection sheet brake tests with BrakeCheck. BrakeCheck will conduct a Service, Secondary & parking brake test with ease and store in its memory for later printing via PC or portable printer.
