With the ease of just pointing the gun at the wheel hub from the outer edge of a trailer or truck and without removing wheels this device is ideal to complete an individual brake check.

If used in conjunction with a BrakeCheck, once a deceleration brake test has been undertaken and the data reviewed for Average Efficiency and peak left or right pull Deceleration, using the Infra Red Temperature Gun could confirm if the axle is imbalanced. Ideal to use on small vehicles like scaffolding trucks or commercial trailers this Brake Testing Method can be carried out prior to a roller MOT VOSA brake test.

Trailer Brake Testing is where we believe the Infra Red Temp Gun really benefits, as VOSA accept a deceleration test by first testing a tractor unit and then the tractor and trailer for inspection sheet trailer tests, there is no way of identifying individual wheel efficiency on the trailer. So to make the inspection sheet as detailed as possible, warm the trailer brakes and measure the temperature of the drum or disk with the IRTG to see wheel brake efficiency or binding.
